Universitas Pertamina Conducts Energy Audits to Identify Areas of Highest Energy Wastage

Universitas Pertamina conducts energy reviews to identify areas of highest energy wastage and prioritise energy-efficiency improvements in campus buildings. In 2025, the university conducted a structured Energy Audit of the Griya Legita Building under the UPGRADES programme, assessing electricity consumption, HVAC systems, lighting, elevators, and building-envelope performance. The audit followed SNI 03-6196-2000 and ASHRAE Standard 211-2018 Level 1 Energy Audit guidelines.
The audit identified the second floor as the highest HVAC energy-consuming area, primarily due to extensive air-conditioning use and an oversized cooling system serving the corridor. Evidence of overcooling was also found in faculty rooms and the library, indicating opportunities to improve cooling efficiency and reduce unnecessary electricity consumption.
The assessment also identified energy inefficiencies in other building systems. The Auditorium recorded a lighting power density of 14.41 W/m², exceeding the SNI 6197:2020 reference limit of 6.57 W/m². Additionally, the building’s roof recorded a Roof Thermal Transfer Value (RTTV) of 25.01 W/m², exceeding the 10 W/m² standard and indicating opportunities to reduce cooling demand through building-envelope improvements.
These findings complement an earlier energy-efficiency assessment published in 2024, titled Audit Energi pada Gedung Universitas Pertamina Menggunakan Metode AHP (Analytical Hierarchy Process), which examined energy consumption and prioritised potential energy-saving measures. Together, these energy reviews identify inefficient building systems and provide a technical basis for prioritising HVAC optimisation, lighting improvements, and energy monitoring to reduce energy wastage.
