Universitas Pertamina’s Initiatives to Address Student Food Insecurity and Hunger

Universitas Pertamina has a dedicated programme to address student food insecurity and hunger through Berbagi Berkah (BB) Programme, coordinated by MIRAI Universitas Pertamina, Islamic Spirituality Student Activity Unit. Established in 2018, the programme provides food assistance to students experiencing financial difficulties, regardless of their religious backgrounds. In 2025, Berbagi Berkah distributed 450 free meal portions to support students’ daily food needs during the academic year.
Berbagi Berkah Programme provides free meals through Jumat Berkah, held on Fridays during active academic periods. The programme also includes food vouchers worth IDR 10,000 redeemable at Warung BB and basic food assistance (sembako) as additional support mechanisms.
Universitas Pertamina also provides free meals to students through university events and educational capacity-building activities. In 2025, approximately 2,500 free meal portions were provided through university activities, including anniversary celebrations (Dies Natalis), Indonesia’s Independence Day, communal Ramadan Iftar, and capacity-building programmes. Universitas Pertamina also regularly organises free training sessions and seminars to support students’ learning and skills development, with meals provided to participating students.
In addition to direct food assistance, Universitas Pertamina supports student food affordability through subsidies pricing offered by several campus canteen tenants. For example, Haoz-Haoz Tenant provides selected food and beverage items to Universitas Pertamina students at prices approximately IDR 2,000–3,000 lower than those offered to external visitors. This tenant-led arrangement provides students with more affordable food and beverage options during regular campus operations.
