Universitas Pertamina Provides Healthy and Affordable Food Choices Across Campus

Universitas Pertamina provides healthy and affordable food choices for students, staff, and visitors through food tenants operating within its two campus canteens. The provision of campus food services considers food quality, nutritional variety, hygiene, food safety, and affordability, supporting the university community’s access to appropriate meals and beverages during daily campus activities.

Availability of Health and Affordable Food Choices

Universitas Pertamina’s campus canteens offer a variety of food choices containing vegetables, protein sources, and other nutritional components. Available dishes include sayur bening (clear spinach soup), gado-gado (vegetable salad with peanut sauce), chicken dishes, tofu, tempeh, and other vegetable-based meals. Fresh fruits, fruit juices, and fruit-based beverages are also available at participating tenants, providing additional options for different dietary preferences.
To support food affordability, campus canteen tenants strive to provide reasonably priced meals, with selected food options ranging from approximately IDR 10,000 to IDR 20,000. These options allow students, employees, and visitors to select meals containing different nutritional components according to their preferences and budgets. The availability of reasonably priced meals is particularly beneficial for students managing limited daily allowances, helping reduce financial barriers to accessing food during academic activities.

Food Quality, Hygiene, and Tenant Management Requirements

The provision of healthy food at Universitas Pertamina is supported by established Canteen Tenant Requirements and Conditions (Syarat dan Ketentuan Tenant Kantin). These requirements include hygienic food preparation and serving processes, the provision of quality and halal food, food taste assessments (food tests), and health inspections for canteen tenants. Tenants are also required to maintain cleanliness within the canteen and surrounding areas, with tenant performance evaluated every six months.

Institutional Policy Supporting Health Food Provision

Universitas Pertamina further strengthens its commitment through Circular Letter No. 0009C/UPER-WRP.4/SE/II/2025 concerning Sustainable Food Procurement and Provision at Universitas Pertamina, issued on 24 February 2025. As stipulated in Section I, Point 2 (page 1), the circular encourages consideration of environmental, social, health, and food safety aspects in food procurement.
More specifically, Section III, Point 5 (page 2) establishes the importance of food safety, quality, hygiene, and suitability, while Section IV, Point 3 (page 3) addresses food safety and quality requirements for suppliers and food service providers. The circular covers campus canteens, food tenants, catering services, and other food providers, reinforcing institutional support for responsible food provision across Universitas Pertamina.
