Universitas Pertamina implements interventions to prevent and alleviate hunger among university staff by supporting access to meals during working hours through subsidised employee lunches and free meal provision during university activities. These initiatives improve staff access to food, particularly by reducing personal meal expenses and ensuring that employees can obtain meals during regular working hours and institutional activities.
Universitas Pertamina implements a staff lunch subsidy programme under Rector Regulation No. 0006/UP-R/PER/II/2017 concerning the Guidelines for Consumption Management at Universitas Pertamina. As stipulated in Chapter II, Section D, Point 1 (page 8), the university offers lunch facilities to employees through financial assistance or subsidies. The regulation also identifies improved communication and interaction between employees and university leadership as an objective of the lunch facility. Through this arrangement, staff receive financial support towards their lunches, reducing the personal cost of accessing meals during working hours.
Universitas Pertamina also arranges meal provision for staff during official meetings, coordination activities, and other institutional programmes. These arrangements follow Appendix I: Meal Provision Standards (page 9) of the Guidelines for Consumption Management, which establishes meal and consumption budget standards for different university activities. For eligible activities, food and beverage expenses are covered by the university in accordance with the applicable provisions, allowing employees to receive meals without additional personal expenditure.
In addition, Universitas Pertamina distributes complimentary meals during university events and staff development activities, including university anniversary celebrations (Dies Natalis), Indonesia’s Independence Day celebrations, communal Ramadan Iftar, seminars, workshops, and staff capacity-building programmes. Food and beverages are also arranged during eligible coordination meetings organised by university departments and functions. Employees participating in these activities can access meals and refreshments at no personal cost.
