Universitas Pertamina actively contributes to SDG policy creation through collaborations with regional and national NGOs, aligning with SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals. One key initiative involved the Bogor City Government, the Bogor City Environmental Office (DLH), ICLEI, and the World Bank, where the International Relations program analyzed the institutional capacity of Bogor’s government in achieving sustainable development goals.

Similarly, Mrs. Mega Mutiara Sari, a faculty member, served as a consultant for the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources’ ADLIGHT project, which promotes energy-efficient lighting systems in Indonesia. These efforts showcase Universitas Pertamina’s significant role in shaping sustainable policies and supporting adaptive management for sustainable futures.

Universitas Pertamina fosters cross-sectoral dialogue on sustainable practices, engaging academics, business professionals, government, and NGOs to promote cooperative efforts on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). A key example is the 2022 International Conference on Sustainable Engineering, Infrastructure, and Development (ICO-SEID), which brought together experts to discuss sustainable engineering and development. The university also participated in the 4D ASEAN Youth Lab, hosted by the Just Transition Forum in Asia (JTFA), focusing on decarbonization and digitalization. Additionally, the Indonesian Millennial in Sustainability (IMIS) forum, organized by the International Relations and Communication programs, highlighted youth perspectives on sustainability. These initiatives underscore Universitas Pertamina’s commitment to advancing SDG-focused cooperation across sectors.

Universitas Pertamina actively collaborates with non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to advance the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through student volunteering, research programs, and educational resource development. On December 22, 2022, the university partnered with USAID E4SEA to conduct Unconscious Bias Training of Trainers, fostering awareness and inclusivity, especially in the energy sector. In another initiative, student organizations collaborated with the NGO keMANGTEER for mangrove conservation efforts, contributing to environmental sustainability. The Pertamina Foundation also launched the #TemanBumi campaign with KitaBisa.com to engage the public in climate change mitigation. Additionally, Universitas Pertamina partnered with Lembaga Adat Melayu Riau to provide scholarships, enhancing educational and cultural inclusivity. These collaborations underscore the university’s commitment to addressing global challenges through meaningful engagement and education.

Universitas Pertamina actively supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in education, environment, community empowerment, and the economy through various projects led by the Pertamina Foundation. Key initiatives include PFPrestasi and PFPreneur, which provide scholarships and entrepreneurship programs to support outstanding students and promote small and medium-sized businesses. PF Bangkit focuses on community capacity building through training and mentorship, while Hutan Pertamina and the Blue Carbon Initiative work to preserve mangrove and forest ecosystems as part of the Nature-Based Solutions approach to combat climate change.

Other significant programs include the Community Empowerment and Education Program, which enhances educational opportunities and environmental conservation through Universitas Pertamina and Patra Kindergarten. PFSeries and PFmuda focus on empowering youth and people with disabilities, while the Marine Conservation Program and Desa Energi Berdikari help coastal communities protect marine ecosystems and support economic sustainability. These efforts reflect Universitas Pertamina’s commitment to advancing SDG targets at local, national, and global levels.

As outlined in Rector Regulation Number 0011 of 2021, Sustainable Development is a mandatory course for all students, ensuring that every student, regardless of their field, gains critical knowledge on sustainability challenges. This approach aligns with Indonesia’s Vision 2045 and the SDGs, aiming to produce graduates who are not only technically skilled but also equipped with a comprehensive understanding of global sustainability issues. Additionally, Universitas Pertamina offers various sustainability-focused courses and opportunities, reinforcing its holistic approach to addressing environmental, social, and economic challenges.

Universitas Pertamina offers dedicated courses on sustainability and the SDGs, such as the compulsory Pembangunan Berkelanjutan (Sustainable Development) course, ensuring all students gain a comprehensive understanding of sustainable development principles. This course, outlined in the Rencana Pembelajaran Semester, equips students with practical knowledge of environmental sustainability, social equity, and economic growth, enabling them to critically engage with sustainable solutions on both local and global scales. By making this course a core part of the curriculum, Universitas Pertamina prepares graduates to tackle sustainability challenges in their careers, reinforcing its commitment to promoting the global SDGs through education.
