Universitas Pertamina Informs and Supports Government through Flood Early Warning and Risk Monitoring Research

Universitas Pertamina supports government efforts in flood risk monitoring and early warning through joint research with Balai Besar Wilayah Sungai Ciliwung Cisadane (BBWS Ciliwung Cisadane), Ministry of Public Works. The research, Pemanfaatan Data Hujan Satelit GSMaP untuk Peringatan Dini Banjir di Wilayah Sungai Ciliwung-Cisadane, combines satellite rainfall data with hydrological modelling to identify potential flood risks and provide technical information for flood preparedness.
The study applies the Universitas Pertamina Rainfall–Runoff Model (UPerRRM) together with Global Satellite Mapping of Precipitation (GSMaP) data to simulate river discharge and identify potential flood hazards. Analysis of the March 2025 flood event indicated a potential lead time of approximately four hours at the Cikeas–Cileungsi confluence. The findings contribute to the technical development of flood early warning and hydrological risk monitoring through collaboration with a government water-resources agency.
