Universitas Pertamina Plans Energy-Efficiency Upgrades for Existing Campus Buildings

Universitas Pertamina has developed plans to upgrade existing campus buildings to higher energy efficiency through energy audits, building-system improvements, and its Campus Transition Masterplan. These efforts are supported by Circular Letter No. 0010D/UPER-WRP.4/SE/II/2025, which encourages the application of energy-efficiency standards in campus renovation and building projects, in line with the university’s Green Campus Management guidelines.
In 2025, Universitas Pertamina completed an Energy Audit of the existing Griya Legita Building, using electricity-consumption data from 2023–2024. The audit assessed Energy Use Intensity (EUI) and the performance of lighting, HVAC, and elevator systems. Its findings provide a technical baseline for planned energy-efficiency upgrades, with an EUI improvement target of ≤99 kWh/m²/year.
Based on the audit and campus facility needs, Universitas Pertamina identified planned energy-efficiency improvements for existing buildings, including progressive replacement of conventional lighting with LED lighting, occupancy-sensor applications, HVAC operating-schedule optimisation, building-envelope improvements, and enhanced energy monitoring. LED lighting and occupancy-sensor applications are already present in selected campus facilities, while further improvements are being developed progressively according to building conditions and operational requirements.
These building improvements are also integrated into the Campus Transition Masterplan, which incorporates Green Building principles to improve existing campus infrastructure. The masterplan includes optimising natural lighting and ventilation, improving utility systems, and developing green open spaces to support a more energy-efficient campus environment.
