Universitas Pertamina provides structured assistance to start-ups developing technologies that support a low-carbon economy through its Greenovate Accelerator Program 2025. As the National Executing Agency of GGINP Indonesia, the university supports start-up development through bootcamps, mentorship, technical training, pitching opportunities, and industry networking. Greenovate is implemented under the Global Green Chemistry Innovation and Network Programme (GGINP) Indonesia, for which Universitas Pertamina serves as the national executing agency in Indonesia. The programme is designed to support innovation through accelerator programmes and business competitions, enabling start-ups and entrepreneurs to develop commercially viable green chemistry technologies and safer, lower-impact solutions. Greenovate specifically aims to support and train Green Chemistry start-ups, identify promising technologies, and nurture their development through a continuing accelerator ecosystem.
Structured Assistance for Start-up Development
Throughout 2025, participating start-ups received support through a structured series of bootcamps, mentor networking sessions, training, pitching sessions, and a final Demo Day. The programme progressed through several stages between March and October 2025, providing participants with opportunities to refine their innovations and business ideas before presenting them to wider stakeholders. The programme culminated in GreenLink, where participating start-ups presented their business ideas to judges, stakeholders, and investors, followed by networking and speed-dating sessions intended to encourage collaboration and strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem. This approach enables Universitas Pertamina to provide assistance beyond initial idea development by connecting emerging start-ups with mentors, industry stakeholders, and potential partners for further development.
Supporting Low-Carbon and Clean-Energy Innovations
The Greenovate programme applies the principles of Green Chemistry, including Design for Energy Efficiency and Use of Renewable Feedstocks, providing a strong foundation for the development of lower-impact and more resource-efficient technologies. Several start-ups supported through Greenovate 2025 demonstrate a direct connection with low-carbon technologies, clean energy, and energy efficiency. Tamanoo – EBM Scitech develops a Zero-Waste Integrated Utilization System based on tamanu oil. Its process converts approximately 75% of crude tamanu oil into biodiesel for clean energy, while other fractions are utilised for pharmaceutical products and other applications, supporting a circular economy approach. Legend Tren Internasional applies a circular-economy model by converting waste from palm-sap processing into bioethanol, creating additional value from production residues while supporting more sustainable resource utilisation.
Connecting Start-ups with Industry and Investment Networks
Greenovate also provides start-ups with opportunities to progress beyond technical development. The accelerator concludes with pitching and networking activities that connect participants with industry representatives, investors, and other stakeholders. The 2025 programme applied a staged selection process and concluded with selected teams participating in the final accelerator and GreenLink activities. These interactions provide participating start-ups with opportunities to receive feedback, establish professional connections, and explore potential collaboration and further development of their technologies.
Through the Greenovate Accelerator Program, Universitas Pertamina provides direct and structured assistance for start-ups developing technologies that can contribute to a low-carbon economy, including clean energy, energy-efficient technology, renewable feedstocks, circular economy solutions, and lower-impact industrial processes. By combining accelerator support, training, mentorship, pitching opportunities, and industry and investor networking, Universitas Pertamina helps emerging start-ups strengthen their innovations and advance sustainable technologies toward wider application.
