Universitas Pertamina Ensures Equal Opportunities for Women’s Applications, Admission, and Participation in Higher Education

Universitas Pertamina has established institutional policies to ensure equal opportunities for women in university applications, acceptance, entry, and participation in higher education. This commitment is reflected in Rector Regulation No. 0010/UPR/PER/HK.00/VIII/2023 on the Guidelines for New Student Selection at Universitas Pertamina, which governs the admissions process, including applications, selection, acceptance decisions, re-registration, verification, and official student enrolment.
The regulation establishes principles of objectivity and equitable access to higher education. Specifically, Annex, Chapter II, Section A, Point 5 (page 5) stipulates that new student selection must consider the composition of admitted students without discrimination based on ethnicity, religion, race, social group, or gender, while upholding the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusiveness (DEI). This provision establishes a policy foundation for ensuring that women have equal opportunities throughout the student admissions process.
This commitment is further reinforced through Circular Letter No. 0043A/UP-WRS.3.2/MEMO/KP.06/II/2025 on an Inclusive Campus, Equality, and Anti-Discrimination at Universitas Pertamina, issued on 24 February 2025. Point 2 (page 1) explicitly guarantees women equal opportunities to apply, participate in selection, be accepted, register, and pursue higher education at Universitas Pertamina. Furthermore, Point 3 (page 1) requires the admissions process to uphold objectivity, equitable access, equality, and non-discrimination, while Point 4 (page 1) addresses the expansion of higher education access for groups facing potential barriers, including women, through admissions programmes, scholarships, educational outreach, and other forms of support.
Beyond applications and admission, Universitas Pertamina’s policy also addresses women’s participation in university life. Point 11 (page 2) supports women’s equal participation in academic learning, research, student organisations, leadership development, mobility programmes, community engagement, and career development. Additionally, Point 13 (page 2) encourages mentoring, counselling, academic support, and career development opportunities for women and other groups requiring assistance. Point 17 (page 3) further requires university units to integrate gender equality and non-discrimination principles into their programmes, services, and internal policies.
