Center of Excellence Laboratory

The Center of Excellence (CoE) Laboratory at Universitas Pertamina was officially established based on Rector’s Decree No. 459A/UPER-R/SK/HK.01/XII/2025 concerning the Establishment of the Center of Excellence (Lab CoE) at Universitas Pertamina. The laboratory was also developed through a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) grant from Pertamina in 2025. As a flagship research facility, it is designed to support advanced scientific investigation and sustainability-driven innovation. The laboratory plays a strategic role in enabling high-quality research, fostering applied innovation, and supporting interdisciplinary studies.

Rigaku SmartLab SE is an automated multipurpose X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) instrument used for high-accuracy characterization of material crystal structures and phases. The system is equipped with a 3 kW generator with a Cu Kα X-ray source, a high-precision θ–θ geometry goniometer, a measurement range of 0–160° (2θ), and a high-speed semiconductor detector for rapid data acquisition and high sensitivity. Supported by Cross Beam Optics (CBO) technology, automatic alignment, and SmartLab Studio II software with a Guidance expert system feature, this instrument is capable of performing various analyses such as powder diffraction, phase identification, crystallite size determination, thin film analysis, residual stress measurement, SAXS, and in-situ measurements. The instrument comprehensively and efficiently supports research activities, material testing, and laboratory analytical services at Universitas Pertamina.
