Universitas Pertamina collaborates with government stakeholders to discuss climate-related disaster risks, adaptation strategies, and community resilience. One example is the 4th International Conference on Contemporary Risk Studies (ICONIC-RS) 2025, organised by Universitas Pertamina on 8 October 2025 at InterContinental Jakarta Pondok Indah, under the theme “Navigating Global Risk: Advancing Economic Resilience, Environmental Sustainability, and Energy Security.” ICONIC-RS 2025 addressed various climate-related disaster risks, including floods, droughts, storms, and sea-level rise. The forum brought together academics and government stakeholders, including representatives from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, to discuss adaptation strategies, community adaptive capacity, economic resilience, and the energy transition as part of responses to climate-related risks.
Strengthening Adaptation Strategies and Community Resilience
The forum discussed climate disaster risks and adaptation strategies, including approaches to strengthening community adaptive capacity. Topics included livelihood diversification, environmentally friendly practices, and land-burning prevention as approaches to enhance community resilience to environmental and climate-related risks. The involvement of government stakeholders in the forum strengthened knowledge exchange among Universitas Pertamina, academics, and government representatives on climate change adaptation, community resilience, and responses to climate-related disaster risks. The forum provided a platform for bringing together academic and policy perspectives on climate-related risk challenges.
